Kenoteq join us for our next Countdown to COP event , a startup making bricks from waste construction rubble - circular economy in action!

About this event

Dr Sam Chapman is MD of Kenoteq Ltd. Spinning out from Heriot-Watt University, Kenoteq specialises in answering the call from the construction industry for both sustainable building materials and utilisation of waste. Kenoteq’s patented ‘K-Briq’ is an unfired brick made of 90% recycled material. It is made using traditional methods and spurns environmentally unfriendly cement.

Led by Kenoteq founder Dr Gabriela Medero, the successful sourcing of innovation funding from Zero Waste Scotland helped sow the seeds for Kenoteq to grow. The Kenoteq team has been awarded over £2M in grant funding to date.

Originally hailing from the Lake District, Sam relocated to Edinburgh in his final years of school, with a view to following his dad’s footsteps into the world of engineering. Sam is currently focused on growing Kenoteq to continue developing sustainable building materials.
